October 2008 News

Another busy month for Elmswell Fire Crew, with just over a dozen shouts for the month including two fires at 2 Sisters (Rannochs) Poultry factory & the most serious being a large barn & farm buildings in Cotton on October 9th.

Home Fire Safety

The crew have also been busy carrying out Home Fire Safety risk visits around our patch. You can find out if your eligible for a visit by contacting Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service on 01473 260586 or fill out this form.

New Recruits

We also welcomed two new recruits to the station, FF Trevor Hill & FF Steven Reid who are both settling in very well. Trevor is an experienced Firefighter and works for the training department for Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service. Steven works for Silver Spoon in Bury St Edmunds. He starts his probationer training on the 13th November & will spend a week away at the Fire Service training school in Lowestoft. There will be more to come about these two in the near future!

Elmswell - Village of the Year

You can view the BBC Look East news item about Elmswell winning "Village of the Year" on YouTube - apologies for the quality.

Charity Car Wash

The Elmswell Crew would also like to thank the car owners of Elmswell for kindly supporting our annual car wash on the 25th October. As usual we were very busy all day (as you can see from the pictures!) and we are pleased to announce we have made £640 which will all go towards our charity fund. There will be more news about our charity fund in the weeks to come and if you are a worthwhile village organisation you may be very interested!
